Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Title Case and Sentence case?
Title Case capitalises the main words and keeps short words such as a, an, the, and, of, in and to in lower case unless they come first or last, as in "The Lord of the Rings". Sentence case capitalises only the first letter of each sentence and the word I, as in ordinary writing. Names and acronyms are lower-cased in both, so check them afterwards.
What are camelCase, PascalCase, snake_case and kebab-case?
Ways to join words into one name for code. camelCase starts lower and capitalises each later word (userName); PascalCase capitalises every word (UserName); snake_case joins lower-case words with underscores (user_name); kebab-case uses hyphens (user-name), common in URLs and CSS; CONSTANT_CASE is upper case with underscores (USER_NAME).
How does it split words for camelCase and snake_case?
It splits on spaces and punctuation, and between the humps of an existing name, so XMLHttpRequest becomes xml_http_request and user_id becomes userId. Apostrophes are dropped, so don't becomes dont. Each line is converted on its own, so a list of names becomes a list of identifiers.
Does it work with Hindi and accented letters?
Yes. Accented letters change case properly (é becomes É, and the German ß becomes SS in upper case). Hindi, Tamil and other scripts without capital letters stay as they are in UPPER and Title case, and their words are still joined for snake_case or kebab-case, so नमस्ते दुनिया becomes नमस्ते_दुनिया.
Is my text saved or sent anywhere?
It isn't sent anywhere; the conversion happens in your browser. The text is kept in this browser's local storage so it's there after a reload. The bin icon clears it.
